Update (03/01/10)
Installation of ODI at the telescope is planned to start on November 15th, 2010. Before this date, telescope time and instruments at WIYN will be scheduled as usual. After November 15th and the installation period (a 3-week shutdown of the facility), commissioning of ODI will proceed in blocks of 5 consecutive nights, every two weeks.
Due to the remaining uncertainty in ODI delivery, WIYN is planning to schedule the semester 2010B after November 15th with scientific programs with the other instruments. ODI commissioning will take precedence over these scientific nights when it is confirmed that commissioning can be undertaken. Observers will be informed whether we proceed with ODI commissioning (thus canceling their observing time) or with their observing programs at least one month prior to the scheduled run, if at all possible. It should be understood that cancellation of scientific observing time on a shorter time basis might also be necessary if unexpected issues arise.
Other changes to instrumentation affecting scheduling at WIYN in 2010B can be found on the Kitt Peak web page Telescopes and Instruments for 2010B.
