The One Degree Imager - Timeline until Completion

Major milestones until ODI's completion

Summer 2009

  • Complete delivery of Optics & coatings, Shutter, first three filters (g' r' i'), and CCD controllers.
  • Integration of instrument support package.
  • Test of instrument support package & optics at the telescope. Verification of optical system performance.

January 2010

  • Delivery of 64 OTA CCD detectors & integration into the Dewar.
  • Implementation of chilling system at the summit facility.

1st quarter of 2009

  • Evaluation of detector array.
April 2010
  • Integration at the telescope and start of technical commissioning.

Milestones for Science Use

June 2010

  • Start of scientific commissioning

Sep 2010

  • Continued commissioning and start commissioning of advanced modes.
  • Queue mode/data reduction pipeline commissioning.

Late 2010

  • Start of shared risk science operations.

Feb 2011

  • Available for regular science use in static and coherent correction mode
  • Available for shared risk use in advanced modes

Sep 2011

  • ODI is fully commissioned.
