When mounting NIRIM –
make SURE that the green window cover is on!
The instrument should be unloaded onto the green cart with the integrated lift so that it does not have to be moved later. Keep NIRIM centered on the cart while transporting. Be careful not to tip the cart or snagging anything, as either could result in NIRIM falling off the table. It is NOT very stable.
· Turn off power to the FSA
· Uninstall current wnir instrument
· Install adaptor plate using the 8 3/4" 1/2-13 bolts. The alignment pins should be aligned top and bottom with the rotator at 0 degrees. There is an arrow on the plate that will point up (0 degrees) on the rotator.
· Rotate wnir to -90 degrees. (The arrow on the plate should now point N.)
· Take NIRIM up on the lift. Make sure NIRIM is centered on the cart, not on the edge!
· Take window cover off and inspect instrument window. Be careful once the cover is off not to allow anything to touch the window, especially while positioning NIRIM to the adaptor plate. Gently clean only if absolutely necessary – the current scratched surface is the result of someone wiping the window with a circular motion.
· Bolt top bracket to adaptor plate using 3 of the 6 3/4" 1/4-20 bolts. (Top middle should be the hex head bolt)
· Lower the lift cart. Watch the cart corners and cables!
· Bolt lower mounting bracket loosely onto the adaptor plate using the 3 3/4" 1/4-20 bolts.
· Bolt the lower mounting bracket onto NIRIM using the 8 small 1/2" bolts, then tighten the 3 3/4" 1/4-20 bolts securing the bracket to the adaptor plate.
· Attach the grey power supply box to the black boom on the IAS.
· Install extension cord from clean power up the fork and out on the blue boom above the instrument.
· Plug the power bar into the extension cord and the two computer cords into the power bar. Then plug the computer cords into the gray power supply box and the black stepper motor power box.
· Install fiber optic link from the NIRIM electronics to the IAS. The Tx and Rx lines should be crossed at this point. (At one end Tx-Tx and Rx-Rx at the other Tx-Rx and Rx-Tx.) Do NOT use the middle set of fiber connectors on the IAS. Use the bottom set.
· Change the fiber link in the computer room. The fibers labelled MINI 3 and MINI 4 should be taken out of the IAS box and the fibers labelled NIRIM 3 and NIRIM 4 should be installed into the #3 and #4 connectors.
· Power on the gray power supply box and the black stepper motor power box.
· Reverse this procedure for removal.
