RESOLUTION 2003-01a: The Board authorizes the Director to spend up to $45K from the Instrumentation budget in support of ODI in FY04. This allocation represents a portion of WIYN's contribution toward the cost sharing requirement of the NSF/ MRI proposal being submitted by Yale to design CCDs as needed by ODI. As such, this authorization is contingent upon the success of the MRI proposal. Due to the MRI proposal deadline, this resolution must be decided upon by January 24, 2003 via ballots received by the Secretary.

Face-to-face meeting in Tucson

RESOLUTION 2003-01b: Recognizing that the WIYN 3.5 meter telescope is the best wide-field imaging telescope and recognizing that the addition of the One Degree Imager (ODI) will maintain WIYN at the forefront in high -technology wide-field imaging, the WIYN Consortium commits to design, develop and use its best effort to obtain the necessary funds to build the ODI for the WIYN telescope.

RESOLUTION 2003-02: When required in time-critical situations, the WIYN Director may expend up to $100,000 without prior Board approval if the expenditure is approved in writing by the WIYN President, Treasurer and Chair of the SAC. Such expenditure may be funded through reallocation among approved budget categories including, if necessary, a draw against the investment fund. The WIYN Director will report any such approved expenditure to the Board at the next Board meeting.

RESOLUTION 2003-03: One final resolution was Board authorization for the Director to continue to spend from the appropriations, pending the next Board Meeting.

October 3, 2003

Face-to-face meeting in Wisconsin

RESOLUTION 2003-05: The WIYN Board approves the operations and maintenance plan for the fiscal year beginning on October 1, 2003 as it is shown in section 3 in the blue book.

RESOLUTION 2003-06: The WIYN Board approves binding the coverage for acts of terrorism for its CGL and property insurance. The Board does not approve doubling the amount of directors and officers coverage.

RESOLUTION 2003-07: The Board approves the instrumentation plan, including that for ODI, as presented at the meeting and authorizes the Director to take an aggressive approach toward completing the ODI conceptual design review. The Board further authorizes the Director to use monies from the investment fund as necessary to accomplish these purposes, however, the investment fund balance may not be reduced below $200,000.

RESOLUTION 2003-08: The WIYN Board approves the renewal of 0.9m agreement as presented by R. Mathieu.
